Shri Krishna was born in Mathura, passed his childhood in Gokul, Barsana , Vrindavan , Nandgaon and Goverdhan. Description of these places is given in this website – Brajutpad. Some people may visit these places as Tourist but mostly visit these places with devotion or pilgrimage. Most of these places have some monuments or temples related to Shri Krishna and His childhood activities. Pilgrims have great respect for these places and temples. They perform worship in these places. Some of these places are described in the following paragraphs.

MATHURA

Mathura is one of the most famous places well connected with almost all the important Metros and cities in India. Mathura is the birth place of Shri Krishna and is one among the seven Saptpuris ( Seven holy cities) described in our scriptures. Mathura is 160 km away from Delhi and 55 km away from Agra on the National Highway 2 situated on the bank of the river Yamuna. One of the famous Ghats of river Yamuna in Mathura is Vishram Ghat. Devotees take a holy bath here. Besides being the birthplace of Shri Krishna Mathura is also famous for its Archeological Museum and the Oil Refinery owned by the Indian Oil Corporation. The museum has a very good collection of red stone, terracotta sculptures and ancient Buddha sculptures excavated from various sites in Brajbhumi. Visitors purchase various daily Puja articles and Shringar for Shri Krishna idols along with delicious sweets made from Milk. These Brajutpads are easily available in various old markets and Newly established shopping malls in Mathura. The famous markets are Tilakdwar, Chatta Bazar, Vishram Ghat, Chowk Bazar and Krishna Nagar markets.
