This is also true for the cottage industry and village folk art. The different products of Braj are famous as per the place these are produced. In some districts, metal art pieces are produced and in other places, clay art is best, somewhere the puja articles are famous and at some places we find Poshak (dress) of the deity as Brajutpad. Thus there is a variety of products manufactured in Braj or we can say lot of different products are manufactured in brajbhumi .These Brajutpads are bought by the tourists in large amounts for tehir personal use and for giving as prasad to their freinds and relatives.

Braj and in particular Mathura and Vrindavan are the places where pilgrims and tourists come throughout the year. This rush of tourists increases manyfold during Holi and Shri Krishna Janmashtami. These pilgrims and tourists purchase for sure the products of Braj or Brajutpads. They purchase puja articles, eatables mostly made from milk like Peda, and other items for household use. Mostly the local artisans manufacture these articles . We are describing these items ahead.

Mathura Refinery is the biggest contributor to the economy of Mathura and Uttar Pradesh. It is one of the biggest Oil refineries in Asia. Besides this many more industries flourish in Mathura and nearby areas of Braj. Among these Silver polishing industry, Gillet Ornaments manufacturing, Textile printing industry that includes Sari printing famous as Mathura Print Sari and Fabric Printing, Water tap manufacturing, Manufacturing of Puja articles like Kanthi mala, Thakurji Poshak (Dress for Bal Krishna), Mukut and other ornamental decorations for the Radha -Krishna idols, Ghunghroo, etc. are manufactured here can be categorized as Braj Utpads.

Mathura is surrounded by many famous places related to Shri Krishna and Shri Radha eg. Vrindavan, Goverdhan, Nandgaon, Barsana, Gokul, Baldeo, and Agra. Tourists coming to Mathura throughout the year make it a point to visit these places. They purchase the products of these places for their use as well as giving as a gift to near and dear. This boosts the economy of Braj and employs the people there.

Important Places of Braj and Products

Pilgrims visiting Brajbhumi wish to go to some of the important places related to Shri Krishna. We are describing here some of the important places. First of all, we describe Mathura. Mathura is a famous city .It is well connected to almost all the important places by rail and road in India. Mathura is famous as it is the birthplace of Shri Krishna. The birthplace of Shri Krishna known as Shri Krishna Janmbhumi . Mathura is a central place and is one of the important Rail Junction. Mathura is situated in the middle of the Delhi – Agra route. We have already written about the Mathura oil refinery. Besides this, there are small to medium industries manufacturing water Taps, Mathura Print Saris, Kanthi Mala and some other puja articles. These are mala Jholi( Bag for keeping Mala), Copper Kalash and Pancha Patra etc. Mathura is also famous for sweets specially made from milk. The most famous sweet is Peda.
